Plastazote Foam Splinting Material
The Plastazote Foam Splinting Material is a foam-based splinting material that provides a close, secure fit. Light yet rigid, this material is better suited to arthritis splints, cervical collars, and shoe orthotics than traditional thermoplastic-based splinting materials.
Handling Characteristics of the Plastazote Splinting Material
- Low-density foam material that conforms to heat and pressure
- Cut to shape, oven heat and mould, providing a close, secure fit
- Material may be laminated together by placing one piece on top of another
Clinical Indications for the Plastazote Foam Splinting Material
The Plastazote Foam Splinting Material is recommended for a number of clinical applications, including:
- Shoe orthotics and inserts, ideal for diabetic neuropathy
- Ideal for arthritis splints and cervical collars
- Use to adapt handles of household utensils and equipment
Heating of the Plastazote Foam Splinting Material
The Plastazote Splinting Material should be oven-heated at 140°C. It should not be used with a heat pan; use either a hot air gun or a hot air oven.
